23 October  2025
Seminar. Viktor Novosad, PhD student at the HSE Faculty of Biology and Biotechnology (FBB), will discuss his dissertation. The seminar will focus on the SRPseq algorithm — an interpretable method for modeling alternative splicing regulation. The method treats isoform switching as a sequence of decisions at the nodes of a binary tree and integrates two sources of features: RNA-binding protein expression and their binding motifs. The connection between isoform balance and clinical outcomes in colorectal cancer is demonstrated using the CD44 gene as an example. The full analytical pipeline is discussed: preparation of public RNA-sequencing data, feature extraction, model training and validation, as well as limitations and transferability between tumor tissues.. Offline meeting with live stream at 2:40 p.m. (https://telemost.yandex.ru/j/82894409816524).
